Hello, I’m Suchomimus Sirus
(SOO-ko-MY-muss)
Greetings, young trackers, I’m your man, Suchomimus Sirus. My name means “Crocodile Mimic”. I probably got that name because my head kind of looks like a crocodile’s. Check out my teeth! I have over 100, and each one is razor sharp! Fish don’t stand a chance around me.
I lived over 100 million years ago in Africa. Did you notice my gnarly back? I have what’s called an “extension of vertebrae” on my back that makes a small sail that I use to make other animals fear me! Pretty cool, right?
FUN FACTS
36 feet long - I’m about as long as a large RV.
11 feet tall - Let’s just say I would be way too tall to walk into a parking garage.
8,000 pounds - I weigh more than a delivery truck! I bet you would be surprised if I showed up at your front door!
What Did I Eat?
I walk on two legs and eat meat, and lots of it. My sharp teeth could even have a hook-like shape, which is great for grabbing and holding fish. Mmmm, fish are my favorite.
Did You Know?
The Schomimus’ huge skull was 4 feet long, which included its long, narrow snout.
