Hello, I’m Carnotaurus Carl

(kaar·nuh·taw·ruhs)

Welcome explorers! I’m Carnotaurus Carl. My name means “Meat-Eating Bull”. I got this name because I have two thick, blunt horns sticking out above my eyes. I also have big, powerful back legs, which allow me to run really fast.

I lived during the Maastrichtian period of the late Cretaceous time, about 70 million years ago. My fossils have been found in Patagonia and Argentina, where they speak Spanish. In Spanish, dinosaure is “dinosaurio.”

FUN FACTS

25 feet long - I’m about as long as a school bus.
15 Feet tall - My legs are about 10 feet tall, which means I’m taller than your basketball goal.
3,500 pounds - I’m heavier than a hippo.
What Did I Eat?
By just looking at my teeth and my horns, it’s no surprise that I’m a meat-eater. I’m what is called a bipedal carnivore, which means I walk on two legs and eat meat. As you can see, I have very short arms, which are not of much use.
Did You Know?
Scientists believe the Carnotaurus could open its jaw wide like a snake and swallow big chunks of meat. They are thought to be one of the most intelligent theropods.
