Brachiosaurus
Hello, I’m Brachiosaurus Bruno
(brae·kee·uh·saw·ruhs)
Hey there, friends, I’m Brachiosaurus Bruno. I’m here at The Island with my mom, Beatrice, and my sister, Bella. They’re bathing in The Island Fountain. Our name, Brachiosaurus, means “Arm Lizard”. We get this name because our front legs are longer than our back legs. As you can see, we have really long necks that help us reach yummy leaves from tall trees.
We roamed around the Earth during the Late Jurassic period about 150 million years ago. Our fossils have been discovered in North America, Europe, and Africa.
FUN FACTS
50 feet long - I’m still small, but when I grow up, I’ll be as long as a school bus.
85 feet tall - Our long necks can reach the tops of trees. Can you think of another animal with a really long neck?
88 tons - Also, when I am grown, I’ll weigh more than two 737 airplanes.
What Did I Eat?
As you know, we like to eat lots of green leafy vegetables and plants, so we are called herbivores. And because we walk on all four legs, we are also known as quadrupeds. What other animals can you think of that only eat plants and walk on four legs?Did You Know?
Scientists believe the Brachiosaurus continuously replaced its teeth throughout its lifetime.
