Hello, I’m Brachiosaurus Bella

(brae·kee·uh·saw·ruhs)

Hey there, friends, I’m Brachiosaurus Bella. You’ll find me splashing in The Island Fountain with my mom, Beatrice. My brother Bruno is also here. Our name, Brachiosaurus, means “Arm Lizard”. We get this name because our front legs are longer than our back legs. We have really long necks, and not to brag or anything, but we weigh a lot.

We roamed around the Earth during the Late Jurassic period about 150 million years ago. Our fossils have been discovered in North America, Europe, and Africa.

FUN FACTS

50 feet long - I’m still small, but when I grow up, I’ll be as long as a school bus. Maybe longer!
85 feet tall - Our long necks can reach the treetops. I’ve heard giraffes have really long necks, but not as long as ours.
88 tons - Also, when I am grown, I’ll weigh more than two 737 airplanes. Can you imagine trying to lift two airplanes?
What Did I Eat?
As you know, we like to eat lots of plants and vegetables, so we are called herbivores. And because we walk on all four legs, we are also known as quadrupeds. What other animals can you think of that only eat plants and walk on four legs?
Did You Know?
Despite their size and weight, the Brachiosaurus moved with grace and agility. Brachiosaurus were known to be friendly, gentle giants.
