Hello, I’m Brachiosaurus Beatrice

Hello friends, I’m Brachiosaurus, or Beatrice for short. Brachiosaurus means "arm lizard." That's because my front legs are longer than my back legs! Can you imagine having arms longer than your legs? I lived a long time ago, during the Jurassic Period, which was over 145 million years ago! Dinosaurs like me roamed the lands that are now North America, Europe, and Africa. It’s generally understood that Brachiosaurus were friendly, gentle giants.
FUN FACTS
I could grow up to 50 feet tall! That's about as tall as a five-story building!
I could stretch up to 85 feet long! That's longer than two school buses parked end-to-end!
I could weigh up to 88 tons! That's more than ten elephants combined!
What Did I Eat?
I am a quadruped, which means I walk on all four legs. Think of a cow or a dog – they’re quadrupeds! And like cows, I am a herbivore. I only eat plants! My long neck makes it easy to reach the tallest trees and munch on tons of leaves.Did You Know?
Even though it was HUGE, some scientists think the Brachiosaurus might have had a pretty small head compared to the rest of its body! Imagine this giant creature with a head only slightly bigger than a horse!
