Experience Fall at The Island

Each year we look forward to fall with the anticipation of cooler weather, warmer outfits, beautiful colors, football, and tasty fall flavors. During this time of year, the Smoky Mountains are especially a sight to behold as people come from near and far to see what our hometown has to offer, which makes The Island in Pigeon Forge a perfect stopping point on an Autumn journey. With the temperature dropping, the change of seasons is falling on Rocky Top, and The Island is ready to suit up for a winning season.

Just walking along the streets of The Island is enough to get excited about fall and all the beauty it brings, but you simply can’t beat the view from the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel. Taking a spin up to 200 feet in the air can show you a whole new world all in the comfort of the temperature-controlled gondolas. At this altitude, the Smokies boasts an array of beautiful fall tones rolling in the distance, and you get a bird’s eye view of our seasonal decor.

From the moment you step off the tram, it is noticeable that The Island scenery has evolved. Not only does our natural landscape begin to turn to warmer shades of red and yellow, we also incorporate interactive decor that doubles for wonderful photo opportunities. It might just be the family Christmas card photo spot! This year’s embellishments give a classic rustic feel with pumpkins, hay, an antique truck, cornstalks, and much more.

Along your decor scavenger hunt, we’re sure you’ll find fall style must haves! Shopping at The Island can consist of everything from sports apparel for your game day garb, chic fall trinkets for your home, or the perfect outfit for anyone in your family right down to the boots. There’s something for everyone!

While you’re here, you’ll definitely want to try the fall flavors that can be found in several Island shops – from the new ice cream flavors at the Island Creamery to the caramel apples in sweet stops like the Fudgery and Big Rock Candy Kitchen. And with football season in full swing, you can’t forget the tailgate favorite… Moonshine! Orange, apple pie, and cinnamon flavors from Ole Smoky are sure to be a hit with all your friends this season.

As you’re picking up your favorite moonshine, jelly, or salsa at Ole Smoky you might be able to hear the tunes floating through the air from our Autumn Nights Live Music Series. Each night the Ole Smoky stage presents local Bluegrass artists with occasional appearances from more widely known country musicians for a fun and relaxing evening among the stars.

Speaking of relaxing… have you ever heard of a pumpkin pedicure?! The St. Somewhere Spa has their own fall flare with the option of a seasonal pumpkin scrub, which is a delightful treat worth experiencing! We know that life can be stressful, so let the coziness of fall soak in at the spa with all the pampering you can imagine.

Every one of these wonderFALL adventures will last through the season, BUT the main event of the season only comes to town for one day then vanishes in the night! The Island’s annual Halloween Carnival will continue this year with a costume contest, dance party, circus performers, and candy! Around every corner, there is a new sight to behold with acrobats turning tricks, stilt walkers roaming the streets, aerialists soaring high above you, dancers performing all around, a statue performer you won’t even believe is alive, a juggler who doesn’t miss a beat, and a magician who can trick even the wisest of all! This night of fun and the entertainment is always a memorable occasion for kids of all ages!
